  • Biography

With his warm baritone voice Frank Hermans is a great communicator. Telling stories while singing, bringing the words to life, through his music winning an audience for music, is his ultimate goal. Even if the listeners do not understand the language of a particular song or libretto he knows how to convey the essence through his voice and expression. His love of life and positive attitude make him a pleasant performer and easy to work with.
Whenever he can, he will start a song recital with an inspiring introduction, using topical themes to draw the listener into the world of the songs about to be heard.

His love of singing originated in the World Youth Choir, with which he travelled the world from 1993 to 2001. At a very young age he started singing with HMR in Bergen op Zoom, led by Hans Smout. Later on he studied music teaching, singing and church choir master at the Fontys Conservatory of Music in Tilburg.
After graduating he has sought coaching from Paula de Wit, Peter Harrison and Meinard Kraak on a regular basis.
Frank was a chorister in the Gewandhaus Kammer Chor in Leipzig and in Ensemble Lyrique. He has frequently sung with the Netherlands Bach Society and in 2010 he made his debut as Christ in Bach's St. Matthew Passion in Bruges and Courtrai, Belgium. He sang Mahler's Kindertotenlieder in Grenoble, Lyons and Paris.
Apart from his work on the stage Frank teaches at the Factorium School of Music in Tilburg, where he gives singing lessons and coaches choirs. In addition he has a private teaching practise. In 2011 and 2012 Frank went to Uruguay and Argentina to give masterclasses and concerts. In 2013 he will go back.
With pianist Frans van Tuijl he made two recordings, 'Impressions' (2003) and 'When Birds Do Sing...' (2007). In 2012 he released with Lies Colman 'C'est l'extase langoureuse...'
